ITALY WANTS TO SIMPLIFY WINE EXPORT IN EUMINISTRY SUSPENDS ARTICLE 31

vino1The Ministry of Agriculture wrote a letter to the European Union asking to simplify procedures for wine producers who export to the EU (Article 31 of EU Regulation 436/2009). According to the Italian Ministry should be considered optional filling in the field of documents relating to the indication PDO and PGI on certification of the harvest and the grape varieties because the wine is destined to a "common" territory. If the request would be accepted by European bureaucrats, there will be an exemption of new requirements for shipments of packaged products in the domestic and community market and it will confirm the obligation to report the new wording in the documents accompanying bulk wine in Italy and Europe. In addition to all those destined for third countries. Italy waits for Brussels response. In the meantime - waiting for the Management Committee Meeting on January 29 - the Inspectorate for Food Quality and Fraud Repression allowed producers from not reporting the information required under Article 31.
